Privacy policy
Version 1.0 · effective July 27, 2026 · Terms of service
Short version: we keep as little about you as we can, we track nobody, and we sell nothing about anybody. The details, plainly:
1 · What we store about you
Account — if you sign in with Google: your verified email address and name/avatar as Google provides them. If you use a beta username: just that username. That's the identity, whole.
Activity — what makes the product work for you: your hunts and chat messages with Scout, favorites, feedback threads, and which reports you've opened. It exists so your work is still there tomorrow, not to profile you.
Technical — ordinary server logs (IP address, request, time) kept briefly for security and debugging, then gone.
2 · What we don't do
No advertising, no ad trackers, no third-party analytics scripts, no selling or renting personal data, no marketing emails you didn't ask for. There is nothing to opt out of because we never opted you in.
3 · Cookies
Functional only: the beta-gate cookie (proves you passed the door), the sign-in session, and small conveniences like remembering an open panel. No advertising or cross-site cookies — which is why there is no cookie banner.
4 · Who processes data for us
A short list, each doing one job: Google (sign-in), Google Cloud (hosting, USA), Anthropic (the AI that reads your search messages and drafts Scout's answers), Discord (only if you join our community there), and — when subscriptions go live — a payment processor (your card details go to them, never to us). We share personal data with no one else, unless the law compels it.
5 · Boat listings and sellers
Scout's market database holds information that sellers and brokers published publicly to sell boats — occasionally that includes a seller's name or phone number as they printed it in their own advert. If a listing concerns you and you want it corrected or removed from Scout, use the feedback button; we honor such requests.
6 · Retention and deletion
Account and activity data stay while your account exists. Ask us (feedback button) and we delete your account and its personal data. Market data — listings, prices, history — is about boats, not people, and stays: it is the product's memory.
7 · Your rights
Wherever you live — and specifically under GDPR if you're in the EU/UK — you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, exported, or deleted. One message to the feedback button does it; there is no form maze.
8 · Children
Scout is not directed at children and requires users to be 16 or older.
9 · Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the version number and date above change with it, and we'll say so on the site.
