The 42 is the hull that made Lagoon the volume yard of the cruising-cat world: VPLP lines with Patrick Le Quément styling, launched in 2016 to replace the 420/421, the mast stepped well aft to damp pitching and shrink the main, a self-tacking jib doing the daily work — a rig sized for a couple on 22.6 ft of beam. The thousandth hull left the Vendée moulds in 2023; this boat comes from the middle of that run — nothing experimental, everything debugged across a thousand sisters.

One honesty note: we hold no sister Lagoon 42 to benchmark against, so we cannot call $549,000 keen or dear against its own kind. What our shelf does place is the bracket: it tops its comparison set here — newest by two years, dearest by $60,000 — while the older Lagoons near its length, the 380s and 410s of 1997–2006, ask $167,000–$190,000. The premium is the 2022 build and the Pacific berth. It files, naturally, with the charter-size catamarans.
