2001 Hylas Yachts Hylas 49 — Grenada

A 2001 Hylas 49, Lokelani, lying at Grenada, asking $349,000 through BVI Yacht Sales — one of two brokerages carrying it. The 49 is Queen Long Marine's stretch of the Sparkman & Stephens-drawn Hylas 47: higher freeboard, a bigger cockpit and a sugar-scoop stern, added in 1991 at an owner's urging. The Kaohsiung yard's signature — hand-built, semi-custom center-cockpit passage-makers — made the 49 a fixture on world-cruising couples' shortlists, and this hull carries the type's full 14 ft of beam on 49 ft of boat.

Two honesty notes. We hold no sister ship — no other Hylas at all — so whether $349,000 is keen for a 2001 example our shelf cannot say. And we hold no condition detail on this hull: year, length, price and place are the facts; the rest is a survey's job.

What the shelf does place is the money. The near-length production cruisers of its era here ask $69,000–$99,900; the Hylas asks level with late-2010s multihulls in the same waters. The premium is the name and the build, and it is priced like it. It belongs with the bluewater sailboats, and the doors off this page run three ways.
