Nautique

Nautique started as a model name and ate the company. What had been one fiberglass ski boat in the Correct Craft catalogue grew into the badge on everything the Orlando yard builds, and since 2012 it has meant one thing above all: the G-series. The G23's deep hull and internal ballast throw what the wake magazines have spent a decade calling the benchmark — Boating's surf review found a wave about as symmetrical as the sport produces, and Wakeboarding's testers simply called the wake the pinnacle. When the professional tour needs a wave nobody can argue with, this is the hull it books.

The catch rides at the helm. Everything on a modern Nautique runs through the LINC touchscreen, and the PlanetNautique maintenance boards carry years of the same story: displays that need five or ten tries to boot on a warm morning, an Acknowledge All prompt that froze one owner's boat in its slip for a weekend, and a dealer quote north of $4,500 for a replacement screen that the factory says cannot be repaired, on multi-week back order. Boating's reviewers add that under full ballast the boat leans and asks more of its driver than a beginner expects. The wave is not in dispute; the electronics that summon it are. Both accounts are true at once, and they define the pre-purchase ritual: power the helm up cold, watch it boot, and price the screen into your offer. Or step back a generation, to when the systems were simpler and the badge already knew how to make a wake:

Buy a Nautique if the wave is the point and you accept flagship complexity secondhand; buy simpler if a frozen screen on a Saturday would ruin the season. Its rivals wait on the wake and ski boats under $100k.
