Rapido Trimarans

2 for sale

Rapido is what happened when the man who ran Corsair Marine for sixteen years decided the folding trailer-tri was a solved problem and the ocean-crossing one wasn't. Paul Koch — Corsair's chief from 1994 to 2010 — founded Triac Composites in Ho Chi Minh City in 2014 with co-founder Richard Eyre, and set the brief that became the Rapido 60: a production trimaran a couple can sail across an ocean, marketed as the fastest production cruising trimaran in the world. The range now runs from the 40 to the 60, all built at the Vietnam yard. The best walkthrough afloat is free to watch: Sailing La Vagabonde sail a Rapido 60 as La Vagabonde III, and their first look at hull #04, "Our New Home", shows the boat the way no brochure will.

The used market is barely old enough to have a name. Scout watches three Rapido 40s today and no used 50 or 60 at all: a 2023 in Newport at $750,000, and two 2025 boats asking within eleven hundred dollars of each other — the 40R in La Ràpita, Spain at $783,000 and its sister in La Grande-Motte at $784,080, both of which we hold the full file on. That is the whole depreciation curve so far: three boats, two model years, asks still shoulder to shoulder with the yard's own list — a Rapido costs new-boat money because the used market hasn't yet learned to argue.

The honest notes: these are carbon boats, and a carbon survey is its own trade — budget for a surveyor who has laid up laminate, not just tapped gelcoat. The bigger Rapidos trade above the shelf's own ceiling — a 53XS crossed our watch at $1.7M, past the million-dollar line where Scout's estimates stop being defensible — so this page will always tell a partial story. The lineage runs back through Corsair Marine; what ownership actually costs at this size is in the owning ledger; the rest of the fleet lives at the trimarans for sale.
