A 2002 Pogo 8.50 in south Brittany, asking $69,660 through SARL ATOUT NAUTISME. Pierre Rolland drew the 8.50 in 1999 as his Mini 6.50 idea grown into a pocket cruiser — Pogo Structures' proof at Combrit that a series-built planing hull could be lived with: 27.9 ft of boat under 11.81 ft of beam, light, plainly finished. The model won the solo Transquadra straight after launch, was voted Sailboat of the Year 2001, and over 180 were built through 2010.

Two honesty notes. There is no sister 8.50 on our shelf, so whether $69,660 is keen for a 2002 example we cannot say. And the finish is what a race-bred series yard intended — honest glassfibre, plain on purpose.

What the shelf does place is the premium: the 1999–2003 production cruisers nearest her length ask $34,900 to $49,900, each a size longer, so this boat asks at least $19,760 over roomier conventional hulls of its era.
